Sensitive social consciousness along with successful business

The fourth generation of Paranjape Schemes (Construction) Ltd is active in the construction business today. Mr Shrikant and Shashank Paranjape say that in the future, they want the next generation to grow and expand the business. It should have the best professional management. However, during that journey, it is equally important to cherish values, they add.

The customer is really God

“Our grandfather ensured that the silver bought from Paranjape would be 99% pure. The same principle was followed by our father and uncle in the construction business. And we are following the same path as also our next generation. A customer lives in the house that you have built over two years for his lifetime. So indeed, the customer is God. We don’t consider buying land and building houses a business, we believe it is a bond. We have never lost touch with our customers. These values gave us quality, honesty and customer trust. The customer becomes your goodwill ambassador if you hand over the possession of the house in time and have transparent transactions.”

The Paranjape Family

The Paranjape family hails from Vile Parle area of Mumbai. In 1987, they came to Pune. They constructed a six-apartment project in Kothrud titled Shriram Aprtment. Mr Shrikant Paranjape is a CA by qualification while Mr Shashank is a Commerce graduate. Although the two think differently, their strength lies in the fact that they are unanimous in their decisions. It is on the basis of this strength that the company has till today completed the construction of two crore square feet in the form of 200 residential and commercial projects. Meanwhile, work on 32 projects is underway. Mr Shrikant Paranjape’s elder son Rahul has done his MBA in Finance from Melbourne (Australia) while his younger son Sahil holds a degree in Product Design from Singapore. Mr Shashank Paranjape’s elder son Amit has secured a degree in Construction Management from Purdue University, USA. He has also done a Family Business Management course from ISB Hyderabad. His younger son Yash holds a B Arch (Architect) degree from Manchester University, UK. All four pursued higher education abroad and have made their mark in the business. Along with the Paranjape family, the 800 employees of the company, experts from other departments as well contractors, vendors, suppliers of various things who have been extending significant support to them, have contributed to the growth of the company.

Once the customer has bought a house in Paranjape Schemes, he becomes a member of the Happiness Network. Through ‘Happiness Network’, the company organises many cultural as well as sports competitions for all of its customers. This way, a customer’s neighbours become his friends and family and a happy, vibrant community is formed. The Happiness Network of Paranjape Schemes today consists of 12,000 families. As part of this concept, we organise competitions between housing societies and cultural events during the Ganapati festival. This increases unity among them, the bonds of neighbourhood become stronger and the network remains strong. Accept innovation while holding on to your identity

“Even today, there are many customers in Pune who proudly say, ‘We live in Paranjape Schemes’ and it is a matter of pride for us. But we have been accepting new things while preserving Marathiness, Marathi culture and identity. Non-Maharashtrian families living in all our projects participate in Marathi festivals and Marathi people too enjoy celebrating non-Marathi festivals, even as they preserve their own identity. We have learnt these customers that we should accept whatever is good in the world,” say Mr Shrikant and Mr Shashank Paranjape with great pride.

The roots of social work lie in Parle Tilak School

The earlier generations of Paranjape had initiated many social and educational activities in Vile Parle. Preserving this heritage, Mr Shrikant and Mr Shashank Paranjape have made valuable contribution to many educational and cultural activities in Pune. Paranjape Schemes has played an important role in the construction of the Teachers Training College at Bharti Vidya Bhavan in Pune, Paranjape Vidya Mandir in Kothrud, Maharashtra Vidya Mandal’s Marathi medium primary school, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Vidya Mandir as well as the Blue Ridge Public School. To give an impetus to the cultural sector, Paranjape Schemes has always provided active support to events like Pulotsav, Sawai Gandharva festival. To encourage young artists, Paranjape Schemes has been sponsoring Firodiya Karandak for years. Through Socio-economic Trust, they have created infrastructural facilities in many villages of the state. For environment conservation, every year, they carry out Smrutivan, a tree plantation programme. Soon, they plan to start a unique residential project for autistic children and their parents complete with a school for younger children and a commercial project for older children.

Athashree, giving the elderly an energy to live

In 2001, for the first time in the country, Paranjape Schemes (Construction) Ltd launched a residential project called ‘Athashree’ for senior citizens that had all the facilities required by the senior citizens. To date, more than 2,000 senior citizens have been happily and safely living in ‘Athashree’. Today, ‘Athashree’ project is found at 8 locations in Pune and it is being constructed in Bengaluru and Vadodara too. Athashree is not an old age home, it is a residential society. In each of these projects, 24-hour security, tie-up with reputed hospitals, instant availability of doctors and ambulances, separate cafeteria, great housekeeping and maintenance facilities are provided. Through the ‘Aastha’ initiative, rooms with hospital-like facilities have been created and they can be rented.
